OUR ROOTS

Bella Bee Farm is a hobby farm that started the Spring of 2019 but was a developing concept after moving to Rehoboth and sharing apiculture with our new neighbors. I had no idea in 2017 that we would be in such awe of such a small creature. Through observation and education from our neighbor, bee school and community beekeepers, our interest and motivation to support these impressive little ladies grew. Our respect for the honey bee continues to grow and love for their complex workflows, adaptive capabilities and global impact continues to amaze us.

The apiary started with two hives and although one hive failed to make it past the second year’s Spring, we were able to split the surviving hive and add a new hive. Shortly there after, we acquired four more hives in the second year after finding a slightly addicting pastime of collecting swarms. Entering the Winter of 2020, we are overwintering 5 hives after combining 2 weaker hives to promote the best survival.

Bella Bee Farm is passionate about the honey bee, preserving their existence and creating community awareness. Given another hobby of crafting, the farm has expanded our honey products to include favors and gift baskets with divine soaps, lip balms, candles and honey pops (to name a few). The feedback from clients has been so rewarding and motivates us to continue to expand on this journey to bridge the common importance between our pollinator friends and the community.
